Section 3B
Management and protection of the intermediate area
: (1) Work related to the management and protection of the intermediate area shall be done by the conservator in consultation with the concerned consumer committee according to the management plan approved by the National Parks and Wildlife Conservation Department. However, the land ownership of the local people in the area will not be affected by management and protection in this way.
(2) Industries, hotels, lodges, public transport or other similar services or facilities may be operated in the intermediate area without adversely affecting the environment and wildlife.
(3) The National Parks and Wildlife Conservation Department shall formulate and implement standards in consultation with the relevant consumer committee regarding the operation of services or facilities in accordance with sub-section (2).
(4) The custodian shall regularly monitor or arrange for the services or facilities operated in accordance with sub-section (2).
(5) In accordance with sub-section (3), the custodian shall involve the relevant consumer committee as far as it is available when monitoring.
(6) If a family needs forest produce in the middle area due to a disaster, the custodian, in consultation with the consumer committee, will give permission to collect such forest produce from a place in the middle area as prescribed.
